Money Team – Working Group

If you’re interested in helping out with the Money Team’s work, we’d love to have you! There are a few ways to get involved:

  1. Less than an hour:
    • Share the MAMAS fundraising page with your local networks! People give more when they see people they know supporting a cause.
      • Why local? While we welcome contributions from anyone, anywhere, we encourage folks to contribute to mutual aid efforts where they are! Part of what puts the “mutual” in mutual aid is that you’re giving to a community that you, yourself, are part of. Even if you don’t expect to ever need financial help from your neighbors, you benefit from being part of a community where everyone has access to what they need.
    • If you’ve already set up a recurring contribution, you can also check the #general channel of our slack, where we post GoFundMes from folks in the Medford & Somerville communities on a weekly basis.
  2. 1-2 hours: Connect MAMAS with a local business interested in working with us! If you know a decision maker at a local business who’s expressed interest in supporting MAMAS, connect them with our money team coordinators to see what we can make work. Reach out to #wg-money in slack for more details.
  3. 1-5 hours per event: Help MAMAS spread the word in-person! We periodically have opportunities to set up a table at local businesses or events, and a friendly face behind the table can be the difference between someone passing us by and stopping to learn more about what we do. If you’re interested in this option, a great way to start is by reading about us on this website and occasionally checking the slack so you can answer folks’ questions about MAMAS at events.
  4. 2+ hours per week: If you get excited about editing spreadsheets on a regular basis, chances are you’d like being a money team coordinator! Reach out to #wg-money in Slack for an invite to our biweekly meetings (alternating Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 7:30pm on Zoom).
